Budget Friendly Skincare: The Ordinary

Skincare can be daunting and overwhelming to get started on, but it’s also something that’s very important if you want to feel good in your skin and ultimately, it can be expensive. Yes, skincare is something to invest in – if and only if you have the means to. For those who want to keep their budgets in line, The Ordinary is a great brand to try. Their price ranges from ~$5 – 18 CAD which is great for beginners or savers.

The founder of DECIEM, Brandon Truaxe, started this line. He wanted to create a skincare line that would ‘celebrate integrity in its most humble and true form’. All DECIEM products claim to be free of parabens, sulphates, mineral oils, animal oils and all other possible toxic chemicals that you wouldn’t want on your skin. They don’t test on animals either, which is a huge plus!

The Ordinary line is esthetically pleasing to the eye, minimalistic and simple to understand. They list all the ingredients and explain the functions of the chemicals. It easily is available to Canadians, shipped out from their Ontario warehouse, you won’t face custom fees during delivery. Their products are so affordable that you won’t need an excuse to try them out. Shipping is $5 CAD or free shipping is available when you spend over $25 CAD (easily attainable if you cross shop all of the DECIEM brands).

I’ve purchased The Ordinary’s Niacinamide ($6), “Buffet” ($15), Alpha Arbutin 2% + HA ($9) and the Lactic Acid 10% + HA 2% ($7) with my own money. After a few tries, I can certainly say that it can be a hit or miss (hint: Alpha Arbutin). However, regret is nonexistent due to its price, I just won’t repurchase the ones that didn’t work out for me.

If you haven’t found a solution yet for your skincare concerns, try this brand out. It’s inexpensive and with the variety of products, you might find something that you’ll end up loving. Have you tried The Ordinary or any other brand from DECIEM yet? What was your experience? Let me know in the comments!
